Opt-Out Of Automated Twitter Direct Welcome Messages

How To Opt-Out Of Receiving Automated Welcome DMs

As you know, SocialOomph users can automate their Twitter accounts to automatically send welcome DMs to their new followers.

As a past or potential recipient of those DMs, SocialOomph offers you a super-easy way to opt-out and never again receive an automated welcome DM sent by SocialOomph.

Please follow the steps below:

1)  Log in to Twitter.

2)  Follow @OptMeOut.

3)  Wait for @OptMeOut to follow you back. @OptMeOut will send you a DM to tell you it has followed you.

4)  Then send a DM to @OptMeOut. (You can write whatever you want in the DM, it does not matter.)

5)  After sending the DM, unfollow @OptMeOut. (This way your opting out remains private since you won't be in the list of @OptMeOut's followers. We will unfollow you as well.)

SocialOomph will, within a few minutes of you sending your DM, stop sending you any further automated welcome DMs. You will receive one last DM to confirm that you've been opted-out.

You do not need an account at SocialOomph to opt-out. Anybody on Twitter can opt-out.

Your decision to opt-out remains private. We will never disclose it to anybody, unless required by law.

If you ever change your mind about opting out, please submit a Help Desk ticket and ask us to remove you from the opt-out list.

SocialOomph users, you will still auto-follow the people who have opted-out. They just won't be sent your welcome DM.

Best time to submit/promote stories or blog posts to twitter/facebook/digg etc.

I have seen people trying to promote their blog posts randomly without considering the different time zones in many countries around the world.

Just sending out tweets, submitting diggs or sharing on facebook won't do it and will be missed by a huge amount of people.

If you want the highest possible exposure of your new blog posts considering the different time zones is crucial.

I have experienced that promoting a post globally and most effective should be done at:

5 'o' clock pm London time (Beer time)

equals

6 'o' clock Germany, France etc. ( Dinner time)

equals

9 'o' clock in Silicon Valley (arriving at the office)

equals

12 'o' clock in New York (Lunch time)

In order to reach our Australien and Asian friends you have to promote your blog post again around 6 - 9 hours later.

Check out this time zone world map:

Since you are not always availabe, there are some really great tools to schedule your tweets such as twitterfeed.com or tweetlater.com to gain the highest possible exposure.

iPhone Solar Charger Will Keep You Twittering in the Sun All Day

The folks over at Inhabitat have found out about the first Apple-approved solar charger for the iPhone, created by a company called Novothink. Without going into the device’s design and color choice, the important thing it can get your iPhone fully charged as long as that big fiery ball is in the sky. Check out some more pictures and details after the jump. The Surge, as this thing is called, also features a USB cable (for those awkward times when the Sun is absent), and a LED indicator which shows if your iPhone’s batteries are fully charged. The price for the Surge $70, and it’ll become available later this fall.

i love this idea, does anybody have any experience with this?
